The optimum positioning problem, see for instance [1], is bypassed distributing the piezoelectric actuators uniformly on the structure (they are now sufficiently cheap).

However the problem of the optimal electric interconnection of PZT actuators arises. The blue boxes in the figures represent such interconnection. In [2] and [3] it is shown that for every structural member an analog electric circuit must be synthesized. In this way the speed of the electric signal can be slowed down using lower inductive impedances.
